The vessel was last drydocked in 2023 (January 21 thru February 10) at Grand Bahama Shipyard (Freeport). Elation shows its age in other ways too, with decor that is a blend of 1970s color and geometrics overload with garish Vegas touches, depending on which spot you're in. We liked the options and that there was plenty of seating on the ship. Our favorite place to eat casual meals was outside behind Tiffany’s Restaurant (near the rear sports bar and the pizza place). I have no idea what people without smartphones do to reserve their dinner time. Once your table is ready, you have ten minutes to check in. Between cabin doors, floor to ceiling tropical murals brighten the space.
In addition to being on the older side, the ship is also on the smaller side — at least in comparison to most modern cruise ships. The Comedy Club use to be in the back of the ship behind the Alchemy Bar. This area has been converted to balcony rooms to increase the capacity of the ship. The Comedy Club was move to a night club in the center.
