You must also submit a corresponding non-expired government-issued photo ID. Each type of stateroom offers guests comfortability, relaxation, and a space to call their own. Florida residents should choose a stateroom based on their travel size and must-have features. Disney cruises offer 4 different types of staterooms for guests to choose from.

While Inside staterooms lack the natural light and views provided by Oceanview rooms or the private outdoor space of Verandah staterooms, they still provide a comfortable and roomy living area for guests to unwind. Inside staterooms differ substantially from the luxurious Concierge category, which features premium amenities and personalized services. Florida residents looking to save on their Disney cruise can opt for an Inside stateroom, which offers a more budget-friendly alternative than Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge staterooms. During these less busy periods, you may find lower rates, shorter lines, and less crowded onboard activities. Florida residents have an added advantage with this strategy, as they can travel during off-season dates more easily than those living farther away.

Cruise Insurance Quote, Compare & Buy

cruise insurance cost

While certain Medicare Supplement Plans do have some foreign emergency medical benefits, not all do. Be sure to talk to your Medical Supplemental Plan provider to see if you're covered, what's covered, what the limits are and how the bill is paid. Whether you buy travel insurance is a personal decision that will depend on many factors. Would you be willing to absorb the loss of canceling a cruise on short notice due to an illness or accident? Could you afford an evacuation flight from a far-off port if you suddenly became seriously ill? You can receive a quote and purchase a policy online in minutes with any credit card.

Third-Party Travel Insurance Companies

That’s not chickenfeed, but it’s also a relatively affordable price to pay for some peace of mind. We think others don’t buy insurance because they believe it costs too much. What’s surprising is how affordable it can actually be to insure your cruise.

Travel Insurance

All of these contingencies and more can be covered; it's just a matter of finding the best insurance policy for you. Here's how to evaluate which plan is the right choice for you, as well as five of the best cruise travel insurance plans available. Although you can purchase a policy right up to your departure, there are advantages to buying travel insurance right after booking your trip. One is that you can maximize the length of your trip cancellation coverage. For example, if you buy a travel insurance policy three months before your departure and get seriously injured a week before you leave, you can file a trip cancellation claim. Cruise insurance can be any travel insurance policy that has the coverage features you want.

Cobranded Cards

SafeCruise from VisitorsCoverage is another plan that is designed for cruise travel, and it includes an upgrade for a partial Cancel For Any Reason reimbursement. If you want to buy a policy beyond what is already offered by your credit card, start with an aggregator site like Insure My Trip that compares several policies based on the criteria you choose. All of these things can affect the price of a policy that you purchase. There are many providers of travel insurance, and often, cruise companies will recommend a partner when making a reservation. Those are often best since the cruise line has a history of working with that company and has considered the intricacies of the various ports its ships are visiting. The Explorer Plan is World Nomads' premium travel insurance plan and covers a longer list of activities than the Standard Plan.

This coverage helps you pay for evacuation expenses if you have a medical emergency while on a cruise ship if the ship’s medical providers can’t treat you. The coverage will reimburse for the cost of transportation to the nearest medical facility or your home. Emergency Evacuation – Nearly every plan will have some sort of emergency evacuation coverage.

You'll have a wide choice of plans, so you can pick the one that works the best for your situation. Cruisers seeking coverage of preexisting conditions, as well as cancel for any reason insurance, generally must book within seven to 21 days of the first payment they make for a trip. Even a low-cost weekend getaway on a cruise to the Bahamas out of Miami can turn costly if you suffer a serious accident or illness requiring medical treatment or an emergency medical evacuation. The typical cruise insurance policy covers a wide range of circumstances that can go wrong in conjunction with a vacation at sea — both before and during the sailing.

How Much Does Cruise Travel Insurance Cost?

You might need to cancel a cruise in advance due to the sudden onset of an illness, such as COVID-19 or the flu. Or, maybe you fall ill during the cruise and need emergency medical attention. Maybe your flight to your ship gets canceled, and you miss the vessel's departure.

cruise insurance cost

The highest-tier Platinum plan provides $250,000 in medical emergency coverage and $1 million in medical evacuation coverage. The baggage loss coverage is $3,000 per person, and their missed connection coverage is $1,500 per person for cruises and tours. With a range of pricing and coverage options available, you can feel confident that you can find a policy to suit your travel needs.

John Hancock travel insurance review 2024

However, an unexpected emergency can take the wind out of your sails and money out of your travel budget. So you'll want to ensure you have the best cruise insurance plan that won't leave you high and dry in an emergency. “Cancel for any reason” coverage is an upgrade that allows you to get partial reimbursement (typically 50% or 75% of your prepaid trip costs) no matter the cause for the cancellation. If you're a U.S. citizen traveling internationally (which will be the case for most cruises), you may find that most private medical insurance plans in the U.S. won't cover you. You don’t need a travel insurance plan that’s specifically for cruises. Any good travel insurance plan with generous medical benefits and the other benefits you want can work well for a cruise.

You agree to those things in your purchase contract with the cruise line. Very few insurers offer cancellation options based solely on advisories issued by the CDC or other government agencies. If you feel you may need to cancel a trip entirely due to a known outbreak of disease in your destination, such as coronavirus, your best option is to buy a policy that allows you to cancel for any reason.

However, this also means that the fear of catching a new COVID strain will not entitle you to use your cruise insurance. You can purchase insurance plans up to 24 hours before your trip departure date, but we don't recommend waiting that long. If you do wait, you may not be eligible for many important benefits, such as the waiver of the pre-existing conditions clause. Medical benefits on policies you purchase after an outbreak becomes a "known event" may be severely limited.

cruise insurance cost

The downside to waiting is that you likely won’t be able to cover pre-existing medical conditions, and you’ll lose the option to add cancel for any reason coverage. This will reimburse you for unused trip costs if your trip is cut short because of illness, injury, death, a family emergency back home or other reasons. Trip interruption insurance can also pay for the extra expenses of a trip interruption, such as a one-way plane ticket home on short notice. Trawick’s Safe Travels First Class policy provides solid benefits at a great average cost, including high medical evacuation limits and good missed connection coverage. You may never need to use your insurance, but it will save you a lot of money if you require coverage for medical expenses, trip cancellations, or lost luggage. Most people can save money by not purchasing the “cancel for any reason” add-on.

We recommend choosing a third-party travel insurance plan that provides comprehensive coverage, so you have peace of mind during your cruise vacation. World Nomads Travel Insurance didn’t make the cut because the company pushes its Explorer policy more than the Standard policy, which makes it more suitable for adventure travel rather than general cruising. Also, if you are a senior traveler of 70 years or more, you must include the Silver Nomads add-on to your policy, which may push your cost of cruise insurance upward unnecessarily. If you’re planning a high-value cruise trip and would like more coverage, Berkshire Hathaway also offers LuxuryCare, a more expensive policy for luxury travelers.

If the ship sails without you because your flight to Miami was delayed, travel delay benefits can help you catch up. If you break your leg and have to cancel your trip, the cruise line won't reimburse you—but travel insurance can. And if you suffer a medical crisis on board, travel insurance can cover your evacuation and emergency medical care.

Our partners cannot pay us to guarantee favorable reviews of their products or services. We believe everyone should be able to make financial decisions with confidence. We check customer reviews and other resources to see which companies honor policies most effectively. Carnival Elation Itinerary, Current Position, Ship Review

carnival cruise elation reviews

All of these extra-special amenities add to your stay aboard Carnival Elation, with more convenience, comfort and overall more to enjoy. Its first few cruise seasons were spent traveling between Los Angeles and Mexico. In the 2000s, it served the Western Caribbean from Galveston, Texas, and then went back to California–Mexico routes.

Bahamas' Nassau Cruise Port records 7 ship calls in a day

WaterWorks is what you get, filled with slippery slides, twisting tubes, and speed to spare as you get drenched in equal parts water and fun. From toddlers to grandparents and everyone in between, WaterWorks is excitement that will drench you to the bone as you sail the Caribbean. Honestly, the only thing I would say is not great about the Carnival Elation is how far Deck 4 is from any food or beverages.

Carnival Elation Stats

Let’s kick off this Carnival Elation review with our first impressions. But, it is smaller than new ships which are essentially cities at sea. The vessel was last drydocked in 2023 (January 21 thru February 10) at Grand Bahama Shipyard (Freeport). The scheduled drydocking was for routine class works and general maintenance (hotel and machinery).

Carnival Elation - user reviews and comments

When looking for Carnival Elation things to do, you won’t be disappointed even though it doesn’t have the splashy activities of the new, larger ships. Elation shows its age in other ways too, with decor that is a blend of 1970s color and geometrics overload with garish Vegas touches, depending on which spot you're in. Even so, this doesn't distract passengers from having a good time.

Sure, your outdoor fun options on Carnival Elation® are fantastic, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to highlight the endless indoor options as well. We meant it when we said Carnival Elation® has excitement waiting for everyone and every occasion, as these indoor experiences prove. With a bar nearby and plenty of comfy places to read a book, take a nap, or reconnect with your significant other, consider Serenity your secret source of rejuvenation as you cruise The Bahamas. It was roomy, comfortable and had everything we needed. The one thing was that there was a very small amount of room between the bed and the window, a sideways walk. Midship go down to Deck 7 and walk toward the back of the ship (Aft).

Carnival Elation Rooms Are Spacious by Industry Standards

We liked the options and that there was plenty of seating on the ship. Our favorite place to eat casual meals was outside behind Tiffany’s Restaurant (near the rear sports bar and the pizza place). Just like a regular restaurant on land, you’ll make a reservation for dinner using the Carnival hub app on a smart phone. I have no idea what people without smartphones do to reserve their dinner time. Once your table is ready, you have ten minutes to check in. Between cabin doors, floor to ceiling tropical murals brighten the space.

In addition to being on the older side, the ship is also on the smaller side — at least in comparison to most modern cruise ships. The Comedy Club use to be in the back of the ship behind the Alchemy Bar. This area has been converted to balcony rooms to increase the capacity of the ship. The Comedy Club was move to a night club in the center.

Fellow Passengers

A scenic ocean view stateroom will give you the best view of the sea possible, whether you’re watching the sunset or sunrise. The scenic ocean view rooms feature amazing, floor-to-ceiling windows and space for up to two guests. The Carnival ship Elation is one of the company's oldest (Fantasy-class) vessels with sisterships Ecstasy, Fantasy, Fascination, Imagination, Inspiration, Paradise, Sensation.

Glad you had a good overall experience, had a grand time on her back in December. It was recommended by hotel, so that is what we did, but it was just the two of us in a luxury SUV 😍  AND it was only one way! We grabbed a Taxi when we got off the ship, $30.00 plus tip back to hotel.

Find out which fun ingredients — staterooms, dining, activities — go into each deck. For larger groups, connecting staterooms are available. However, for those in connecting rooms, the doors are not soundproof so the TV or loud conversations can be disturbing for the adjoining room. Carnival Elation Grand Suites are also a good pick for families – they can sleep up to 5 guests and feature seating areas and large balconies.

In 2003, Elation started homeporting in Galveston (Texas) with 7-day Western Caribbean itineraries. In 2007, Elation started homeporting in San Diego (California) operating short breaks to Baja California (Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas). In the following years, the boat was also homeported in Mobile (Alabama), New Orleans (Louisiana) and Port Canaveral/Orlando (Florida). A variety of live bands entertain nightly on Carnival Elation, and virtually every musical style can be heard. The prime entertainment venue is the Japanese-inspired Mikado theater, showcasing Las Vegas-style revues and performances by individual comedians and musicians.

As you’ll see, whether you’re on a family cruise or a couple’s getaway, Carnival Elation® has sights, sounds, and incredible experiences for everyone. First, in the main dining rooms, they offer a specialty menu for an upcharge (about $23). These options are listed on the menu with upcharge clearly marked.

Other changes included remodeling several venues and adding JavaBlue Cafe (patisserie/coffee bar) and Bonsai Sushi Express (complimentary take-away dining option/made-to-order sushi). In December 2017, Carnival announced the 2019 deployment of Carnival Elation to Port Canaveral (Orlando Florida) (new homeport). Starting on May 12, 2019, the ship will operate a year-round schedule of 4- and 5-day Bahamas cruises. Departures are on Thursdays (4-day itinerary to Freeport and Nassau) and on Mondays and Saturdays (5-day itinerary to Amber Cove Dominicana and Grand Turk Island). Carnival Elation will not waste time to convince you as she is a ship where "participation" does make the experience.

All retired Fantasy-class ships have been sold for scrap. All that said, don’t assume that older and smaller always equals less desirable. Carnival has kept this ship up, with regular refurbishments and dry docks, with the most recent occurring in 2023, and the next scheduled for 2026.

Thoroughly enjoyed our sunset cruise with Captain Dennis! His knowledge of the area and the wildlife is very impressive. I must say that the dolphins at the end of the cruise was the icing on the cake of a perfect day with friends.

And if you’re lucky, you might even see the green flash! With the sails up, the sea breezes and the salty air, there is nothing more relaxing or more romantic than watching the sunset with your spouse, significant other, family or friends. We’ve got a bar on the boat and comfortable seating all around, so just kick back and relax as we sail off into the sunset! Our boat has a restroom on board and is handicapped accessible. Took some time to convince my family that this was the best way to spend our last vacation day in Ft.

Myers Beach, but they were universally delighted by the end of the boat ride. We took the Dolphin & Wildlife Adventure (2 hour) Cruise and had so much fun. We must have seen about 20 dolphins, no kidding, and they were jumping all around the boat as well. We got some great videos and wonderful memories. '70000 Tons Of Metal' Cruise To Return In 2023

metal cruise

The most prestigious media to report on the cruise in 2013 were Aardschok, Blick.ch, CNN, Lingener Tagespost, Metal Hammer, Rock Hard, Spiegel Online and Süddeutsche Zeitung.[7] Since 2013, Full Metal Cruise takes place in the Baltic Sea following a similar concept. To what extent the organizers were inspired by Tons of Metal is unclear. Organizers took to social media to express their excitement of getting the influential black metal band on the upcoming cruise. Not only that, but they’ll be playing two very special sets while on the ship — one for In The Nightshade Eclipse and another for Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk. Next up is the Private Isle of Labadee, the ultimate private destination for MOR cruisers, offering adventure, exploration and relaxation amongst its many bars and pristine waters. Vacationers can amp up the adrenaline on the Dragon’s Tail Coaster, a thrilling 30-mile-per-hour ride with incredible views of the island.

Time Machine

One annual show that just happens to take place on the water is the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise and they’ve got a doozy for their first band announcement — Emperor will be on the high seas. The fare between the Miami International Airport and PortMiami is a flat rate of $27.00. The best of the '70s lives on as music icons from that rockin' era show they've still got it on the '70s Rock & Romance Cruise. This weeklong getaway on Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Summit, organized by StarVista Live, will sail from Fort Lauderdale to Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico. There will also be collaboration shows from some of the artists on board, as well as autograph sessions for fans to meet their favorite musicians.

ONS OF METAL – The World's Biggest Heavy Metal Cruise

However, if you're sailing on a music-themed cruise, rock 'n' roll is the vibe you want as you soak up some sun and cruise the world with thousands of like-minded music fans. With a myriad of events, activities, and music to keep fans entertained day and night, MORC ’22 promises to be a fantasy camp, personal paradise, and the vacation of a lifetime for hard-rockin’ music enthusiasts. There will be multiple stages for performances throughout the ship. The 2025 lineup will be announced soon, though top bands like Dead Poet Society, Black Stone Cherry, Highly Suspect and I Prevail performed during past cruises. Fans can enjoy one-on-one time with their favorite groups at scheduled meet-and-greets with all the bands. In August 2011, the organizers of Tons of Metal announced an additional festival on a cruise ship, named "Barge to Hell", scheduled for December 3 to 7, 2012.

Tons of Metal

70000 Tons Of Metal features 60 heavy metal bands aboard a luxury cruise ship performing across four stages, including the world’s biggest open air stage structure to sail the open seas. Sailing on board the Freedom of the Seas, guests will enjoy complimentary fine dining, bars and lounges that never close, 24-hour room service and a host of onboard activities. The annual Monsters of Rock Cruise, the world’s premier hard rock/heavy metal experience at sea, is returning in 2022 to celebrate its 10th anniversary. With ten consecutive sellouts since the first voyage in 2011, this five-day, four-night heavy metal music festival and Caribbean vacation offers 3000 metalheads the unique opportunity to mingle side-by-side with 60 world-class heavy metal bands. In addition to more than 120 performances, all festival-goers have access to the official Tons Of Metal All-Star Jam, meet-and-greets with every band, exclusive onboard premieres, artist clinics and workshops, artist-escorted shore excursions and more. In 2011, the inaugural voyage of Tons of Metal set sail on January 24 from PortMiami, Miami, Florida toward Cozumel, Mexico and returned on January 28.

70000 Tons of Metal hosted an array of special on board events 2015. The fifth edition of Tons of Metal saw the return of the Jamming in International Waters with Jeff Waters All-Star Jam. Metal Hammer magazine, Stern magazine and German TV stations RTL, NDR and ZDF featured the event. In 2012, documentaries about the festival were produced by CNN, Sat.1 and WDR.

This is your chance to meet and greet the country stars, join in on jam sessions and attend panel discussions. Plan Your Excursions Carefully

"There are medications that we give for nausea during pregnancy, but is this how you really want to spend a vacation?" she asks. There are nearly 170,000 car crashes involving pregnant women every year, according to the March of Dimes. If you are pregnant, wear both the lap and shoulder belt and buckle the lap strap under your belly and over your hips, she says.

During your cruise, make sure to stay hydrated and eat nutritious meals. It’s important to prioritize your health and the health of your baby.

Is Cruising While Pregnant Safe?

Just because you are pregnant does not mean you have to miss out on fun activities while pregnant. There are many available activities/ pass times that pregnant women can do on a cruise. For instance, you can spend some relaxing time in the spa by treating yourself to a much-needed massage or relaxing facial. And no, this isn’t a reference to rocky terrains or dangerous landscapes (although they are not ideal for pregnant women either).

Baby On Board: Boating While Pregnant — All You Need to Know

Not only does it ensure coverage for unforeseen medical expenses, but it also provides a safety net for trip cancellations due to non-medical reasons. Cruises can be safe for pregnant women, but it’s essential to get clearance from your doctor prior to embarking on the cruise. Your doctor’s assessment ensures that your pregnancy condition aligns with the safety requirements of cruising. Additionally, if you’re prone to motion sickness or concerned about getting seasick, your doctor can advise on safe remedies during pregnancy. You should not be in or past your 24th week of pregnancy before the cruise departure date and some lines will even ensure that you are nowhere near the 24th week of pregnancy while on the ship.

Life jackets are an important part of staying safe while boating — but the life jacket you depended on before you got pregnant won’t fit you anymore now, and it’s not a good idea to simply wear an XL men’s life vest, either. More than half of all pregnant women experience morning sickness, also more accurately called pregnancy nausea (because it definitely isn’t limited to the morning!), during the first trimester of their pregnancies. It usually kicks off around the sixth week, and can last well into the second trimester. Since boating can take countless different forms, let’s start with one obvious piece of advice — don’t pick your third trimester to do a trans-Atlantic solo sailing trip.

A general guideline is to choose an itinerary that has activities that are safe and friendly for pregnant women. Pregnant women should follow the same safety rules on board as they would on land. If you’re planning to travel on one of the popular major cruise lines, the cut-off point is 24 weeks. Although it may generally be safe to cruise while pregnant, the cruise lines have restrictions on which pregnant travelers can board, as well as other documentation requirements. But, if you’re planning to take a cruise while pregnant, there are certain things that you’ll need to be aware of.

Although a cruise ship medical clinic isn’t the ideal place to give birth to a baby, you’ll have the peace of mind that there’s medical staff available if something doesn’t feel quite right and you want to be checked. Most cruise lines require pregnant people to present a fit to travel letter from your physician at boarding. Some also require you to send the cruise line a copy of that letter prior to embarkation day. The vast majority of cruise lines have an official cutoff date of 24 weeks gestation for pregnant people to be allowed to board their ships. This means that if you’re going to reach your 24th week or beyond at any time during the cruise, you’ll be denied boarding. Any baby born on a cruise ship will be incredibly premature with a minimal chance of survival.

If you’re seeking sunshine and a dip in the ocean, the Caribbean is always a good idea, too. Head down south during the winter or holiday season, before the weather gets too hot and mosquitos take over. On our Northbound, Southbound, and Alaska Hubbard Glacier cruises, you’ll witness the massive icy-blue wonder that is Hubbard Glacier, the largest tidewater glacier in North America. Feel the thrill of watching a live calving display, which is when a large chunk of ice detaches from the glacier wall and splashes into the water below, creating a roaring sound known as white thunder.

With few exceptions, the lines will not accept passengers who have entered their 24th week of pregnancy at any point during the sailing. The cruise lines have put these policies in place with the safety and well-being of mothers and babies in mind, since most lines are not equipped to safely care for a newborn that is delivered prematurely. If you have any pregnancy complications, existing medical conditions, a history of previous premature births, or are expecting multiples, it’s a different scenario. In these cases, your doctor might advise against cruising as a precaution.

Obtaining travel insurance with a medical coverage component is always a smart idea when setting out on a cruise vacation, but especially so when you're pregnant. With the potential for exorbitant expenses like ship evacuations, the cost of insurance is a small price to pay to help ensure financial peace of mind. Some cruise lines will have you sign a health questionnaire when booking or at check-in to ensure that you're aware of their pregnancy policy. Many others require that you get a letter from your doctor stating your anticipated due date and that both you and your unborn child are healthy enough to travel and that your pregnancy is not high risk. It's important that you read the fine print and follow official protocol, or you could face issues with boarding once you arrive at the port and/or end up forfeiting your cruise fare. In summary, most cruise lines have policies in place regarding traveling while pregnant, and it is important to check with the specific cruise line before booking.

Generally, it’s permissible for healthy pregnancies up to the second trimester. Well, cruise lines are particularly cautious about the risk of pregnancy complications and the chance of preterm birth. But if you’re planning to cruise during pregnancy, making sure you have medical coverage for everywhere you’re traveling is a must. Women who have reached or exceeded their 24th week of pregnancy, at any time during the cruise, will not be allowed to board or sail with the ship due to limitations of medical care.

If you are before 24 weeks, cruise liners require letters stating that you are not at risk for pregnancy complications and that you and your baby are healthy and fit to travel. A practical consideration is the cost of onboard medical services. Typically, any costs incurred for medical care on a cruise ship require upfront payment. This is where travel insurance becomes highly recommended, especially for pregnant travelers.

As a general rule, cruise lines require that you inform them of your pregnancy and include a letter from your physician verifying that you are fit to travel as well as your estimated due date. However, if there is no pregnancy bump and you are still in the early stages, the cruise liner is unlikely to ask. If you are within the early stages of pregnancy, it is still advisable to consult with your doctor before traveling.

For 40-odd weeks, you won’t be able to drink too much coffee (if any; your morning sickness might fight you every step of the way), lift heavy boxes, clean cats’ litter boxes, or eat deli meats. Although you may still fit in normal clothes during the first trimester, after a week of indulgence in the buffet, that can quickly change and you may be more comfortable in elasticated trousers! Comfortable shoes are also a must, as heat can cause your feet to swell and walking puts pressure on your joints.

Carnival can't quite compete in this department, but its ships don't lack things to do. It's known for its WaterWorks water parks with multiple waterslides and splash areas for little kids, as well as for Bolt, the first roller coaster at sea (found only on Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee). Royal Caribbean's Adventure Ocean program (for ages 3-12) includes an opportunity for kids to become Certified Jr. There are also Royal Babies and Royal Tots options for those travelers with infants and toddlers, and cool hangouts for tweens and teens.

The camp-like programs include age-appropriate activities like arts and crafts, movies and sports and cool clubs for tweens and teens. Royal Caribbean is a better option if you want a huge selection of cabin categories. The cruise line offers everything from tight inside cabins with virtual balconies (an LED screen that looks like the ocean) to fancy two-story loft suites. Its largest ships have the most room choice, and you can book suites with views of the high-diving show or the ships' Royal Promenade, Central Park or Boardwalk areas. The soothing decor is like a Marriott or Hilton hotel, nice and slightly upscale.

Carnival does offer some trips from Brisbane and Sydney for Carnival fans in the southern hemisphere. Royal Caribbean ships consistently measure in the low 40s in this segment, no matter whether a ship is new or old. Carnival has a few that measure in the 40s, but most are around 34-37, meaning a significantly smaller size per passenger. That said, Carnival is moving in the direction of Royal Caribbean. For instance, Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration and Jubilee have the first-ever roller coaster at sea, and the cruise line is the only one to have an IMAX on some of its ships.

The seafood is fresh, the sun is shining and there’s a whole lot to do, so get out there and explore the city before, during and after your cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida. Explore Baltimore’s rich history and culture as you visit the local neighborhoods which are home to important world changing events. The dual-nationality island of St. Maarten (a Dutch territory) and St. Martin (a French territory) celebrates Carnival twice, with each side holding their parades and parties in a different month. If you don’t want to spend anything on the ship, you don’t have to.

This is simply the gross tonnage of a ship divided by the occupancy at double occupancy. When looking at the fares for each sailing in July (the peak of the cruise season in North America), we found that Carnival’s fares are less expensive on average. While both lines do have a lot of similarities, there are also some major differences. This blog helps over a million people to plan their cruises each month. Carnival’s fares can appear much cheaper than Royal Caribbean’s, especially when comparing some of the newer ships, but the difference isn’t huge once you take into account all the fees and taxes when booking.

When looking at dining options on Royal Caribbean versus Carnival, Carnival has the edge for abundant included offerings, and Royal Caribbean leads with its number of extra-fee specialty restaurants. In Miami, you’ll enjoy a small taste of the tropical weather many of you will experience during your cruise, and you’ll see why Miami is one of the most popular places to live in America. Later that day and all day on Carnival Tuesday the streets fill with costumed revelers, energetic dancers and bands playing Soco, steelpan, and calypso.

Plus, our experienced travel consultants have access to exclusive vacation deals to make sure you get the best value for your time and money. The island of Montserrat is one of several Caribbean island nations that celebrates Carnival to close out one year and welcome in the next.

Royal Caribbean guests tend to be families – mostly with parents in their 30s or 40s, but you will get some younger families too, though Royal’s pricing can sometimes exclude some younger parents. There will be a lot of couples too, and some solo travellers and groups of friends, but the latest ships in the fleet are definitely family-oriented. There’s no way to really separate the two cruise lines when it comes to dining. In the past, I would’ve said that the only real differentiator would’ve been Royal Caribbean had better options for vegans. But in late 2023, Carnival rolled out a new vegan menu across the fleet, and so now there’s not really anything between them. Royal Caribbean offers an extensive range of casual and speciality dining options.

It’s like they’ve given some kids the brief of designing their dream suite, and then just built it from their sketches and notes. Carnival doesn’t have a ship homeporting in the UK for any length of time. Some cruises from the UK are available, but the ship will move around Europe for the summer, so your options are a little more limited if you’re looking to sail from the UK. The Royal Caribbean and Carnival fleets are the largest in the world. Royal Caribbean’s is marginally bigger, with 27 ships currently sailing for the cruise line and another three under construction.

The lounge has a selection of board games for families to enjoy too. The choice of destinations really isn’t too different between Royal Caribbean and Carnival. I’d suggest that, if you wanted a cruise around Europe, you’ll find better options with Royal Caribbean – not just the UK-based ships, but there are usually ships homeporting in Barcelona and Rome too for the summer. Carnival’s private islands and resorts include Princess Cays and Half Moon Cay, offering a similar range of activities to Royal Caribbean’s islands. Royal Caribbean puts much emphasis on North America — the Caribbean, Bahamas (including the line's own extravagant private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay), Alaska, Canada/New England and the Mexican Riviera — but also sails several regions in Europe.
